![]() By: Matthew Hester Professional Indoor Football League Communications Director KNOXVILLE, TN (July 11, 2012) – The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) is proud to announce that Albany Panthers DB Damian Daniels has been named the 2012 Defensive Player of the Year. Damian “The Nighthawk” Daniels (5’10 180, West Georgia) earned an unprecedented fifth MVP trophy (2007 WIFL, 2009 AIFA, 2010-11 SIFL) now giving him the distinction of having earned MVP honors in four different leagues. After previously playing the last five seasons with his hometown Columbus Lions, Daniels concluded his first season with the Panthers leading the squad with nine interceptions, also good for second in the PIFL. He was also finished second on the team with 50 tackles as well as ended up second in the league with 19 pass break-ups. “Nighthawk’s” 86 career regular season interceptions place him currently second all-time in indoor/arena history behind Kenny McIntyre’s 98 INT’s who is still playing for the AFL’s Orlando Predators. Along with teammate Tito Hannah, Damian was one of four players unanimous selected to the PIFL’s All-1st Team.
