Bucs Preparing to Meet Raiders in Playoffs

LAKE CHARLES, LA (June 22, 2012) - With its victory last Saturday over the Alabama Hammers, the Louisiana Swashbucklers (6-6) advance to the postseason once again. The Bucs won 75-70 with quarterback Chris Mayabb under center in his first game as a starter. For his efforts, Mayabb was named the PIFL Offensive Player of the Week. He completed 19 passes out of 26 attempts. Mayabb had 289 passing yards and eight touchdowns.

Louisiana enters the PIFL playoffs as the third seed and will take on the Richmond Raiders (10-2). This game is scheduled for Monday, June 25th, at 6 p.m. local time. Coverage will be live on the Internet at www.kezmonline.com, and www.labucs.com, with John Goodman calling the play-by-play. This is a home game for Richmond, and they are the number two seed.

The other semi-final game will be the Albany Panthers (10-2) hosting the Columbus Lions (6-6). The contest is slated for Saturday, June 23rd, at 7:30 p.m. Albany is the number one seed, and Columbus is number four. The winner of these two games will advance to the inaugural PIFL championship game.

Swashbucklers head coach Darnell Lee, has announced that Mayabb, will be the starter for the semi-final game against the Raiders. Mayabb, (6’3” 225 lbs) graduated from Spillman College.

As Louisiana prepares to face Richmond, the league office has announced the All-PIFL list for 2012. Swashbucklers players named to the first team include fullback Kendrick Perry, offensive lineman Roman Pritt, defensive lineman John Paul Jones, and defensive back Damian Huren.

Wide receiver Jordan Rideaux was named to the All-PIFL second team.

Should the Swashbucklers advance to the league title game it will be their sixth consecutive appearance in a championship contest.
